n a quiet rural corner of Ukraine, Pavlo, a stoic farmer in his late 30s, tends to his land, animals, and memories. A solitary man marked by loss, Pavlo's life is defined by tender routines and the subdued ache of absence, evident in the preserved belongings of a woman no longer present and a child's room never finished. His emotional restraint is interrupted only by fleeting moments of human connection—like helping a lost calf return to its mother or sharing an awkward but heartfelt exchange with a young girl and an old truck driver.
But the serenity is temporary. The war encroaches, and Pavlo, once rooted in soil and seed, now pilots FPV drones for Ukraine's military. Alongside Krishna, a younger, sharp-tongued comrade with his own family waiting at home, Pavlo learns the precise, cold rhythms of drone warfare. The skills he once used to nurture life are redirected toward destruction—his drone delivering death to enemy tanks with shaky but determined hands.
Between the adrenaline of combat and the drudgery of dugout life, Pavlo plants seeds in containers and jokes over boiled potatoes. Amid shelling and surveillance, they share tea, war stories, and glimpses of humanity. A cow inexplicably wandering near their bunker seems almost like a miracle—life pushing through the cracks of devastation.
As Pavlo wrestles with fear, purpose, and memories, he reaches out—literally and figuratively—to a woman from his past. In a rare act of emotional vulnerability, he speaks of missed chances and a longing to pass something on. His call closes a loop of regret, revealing a man seeking renewal, even in the darkest soil.
